ABOUT IVOR JAVOR-KORJENIC

Ivor Javor-Korjenić was born in Sarajevo in 1999. He began his musical journey by completing both primary and secondary music school in his hometown. After high school, he pursued his passion for music at the "Music Academy of Juraj Dobrila University in Pula", where he studied classical accordion under the tutelage of Professor Franko Božac. Ivor excelled during his studies, receiving the "Rector's Award" for his outstanding achievements in the academic year 2020/2021, which recognized him as the best student at the Music Academy. He graduated with excellent grades on September 13, 2022.

Following his graduation in Pula, Ivor continued his education at the Music Academy in Sarajevo, where he completed his Master’s studies with excellent grades, finishing on April 5, 2024.

Awards and Achievements

Throughout his musical education, Ivor amassed numerous accolades in both national and international competitions. Some of his noteworthy awards include:

Primary and Secondary Music School: Multiple first prizes at federal competitions, and consistently high placements at international contests, particularly at Akkordeon Art in East Sarajevo.
High School Achievements:
- Laureate title at "MehFest" in Belgrade.
- First prizes at international competitions in Montenegro ("Harmonika Fest"), Croatia ("Bistrički Zvukolik", "Meetings of Accordionists in Pula"), and Bosnia and Herzegovina ("Akkordeon Art," "Primavera").
- Silver medal and 2nd place at the "Eufonia" competition in Novi Sad.
University Competitions:
- Second prize at "Meeting of Accordionists" (Pula, 2019).
- First prize at "Mehfest" (Belgrade, 2019) and "Akordeon Art" (East Sarajevo, 2019).
- Laureate at the "International Festival of Guitars and Accordions" (Bale, 2019) and "National Accordion Competition" (Daruvar, 2019).
- 9th place at the "International Accordion Prize of Castelfidardo" (Italy, 2019).
- 11th place at the 69th World Accordion Trophy (Portugal, 2019).
- Various other prizes in 2020 and 2021, including first prizes at the "Festival of Slovenian Music" in Belgrade and "International Moscow Music Competition" (Moscow, 2021, 2023).
- First place at the "Daruvar Accordion Award" and "Accordion Days" in Smederevo during 2021/2022 and also second prize on IMMC in June 2024. 

Ivor Javor-Korjenić achieved remarkable success at the International Moscow Music Competition (IMMC) in February 2023, where he not only secured the first prize in the category for competitors aged 22 to 25 but also placed fifth overall among more than 100 participants from various countries. This impressive accomplishment highlights his exceptional talent and dedication to his craft. 

Concert Performances

Ivor has performed at numerous prestigious events throughout his education. His concert repertoire spans various styles, showcasing his versatility as a musician. Notable performances include:

- Concerts as part of the Music Academy's Concert Season in Sarajevo.
- Participation in the "May Music Festival" and International Accordion Day celebrations.
- Solo concerts in Sarajevo, Poreč, and significant events such as the reception of Pope Francis in Sarajevo.
- Performing as a soloist with orchestras, including the "50th Varaždin Baroque Evenings."

His final concert at the Music Academy featured a diverse selection of compositions from Baroque to contemporary works, demonstrating his technical mastery and artistic interpretation.

Solo Album and Compositions

Ivor recorded a solo accordion album titled "Sounds of Water," which encompasses various musical styles, including Baroque, Rococo, Romanticism, and contemporary music. The album was released on multiple streaming platforms on December 16, 2024.

In addition to his performances, Ivor has made significant contributions to accordion literature, including a transcription of Liszt’s Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 for piano accordion. He has collaborated with renowned professors from various countries, enriching his knowledge and skills.

Ivor is not only a performer but also an educator, teaching Music Culture and accordion in elementary schools. He is fluent in English and Russian, having won multiple prizes in Russian language competitions.

Through his dedication to music and education, Ivor Javor-Korjenić continues to inspire others and contribute to the cultural landscape of his community and beyond.
